I was so excited when I learned RedBubble now has pet items! I’ve been wanting to make some cute pet products, but just didn’t have the right patterns to work with. After putting in the time to see this collection to the finish, I thought they would be perfect for any fashionable dog (or cat) who isn’t afraid to show off their sense of personal style.
Here are a few designs I have recently added. Click on the photo to be taken to my shop.
Thanks so much for reading and i’ll be adding more designs over the next few weeks.
An interesting thing happened as I was working on this collection. All the focus was on the whippets (as it should be), but as I pulled the collection apart I discovered I could do some fun things with only a few key patterns from the collection and I think these prints may have more appeal to a wider audience. So I guess I came up with a mini collection from the whole batch.
I also discovered a lot could be done with just the motifs that were used throughout the collection. I’ve started designing for a few items such as stickers, tech items, and home decor (specifically, kids’ rooms! I mean, I never even thought of that before!) Then, of course, there are different scales depending on the application. This has really turned into something I am spending way too much time playing with, but it’s so much fun!
I’m excited to share more ideas soon! I’m narrowing down which designs, motifs and scales work best and putting them into cohesive collections of related items that makes sense. This has turned into my big goal for the month of June. And WOW – we are already in the middle of the month. Guess I have a lot to do over the next couple of weeks.
Again, mockup by Creasty and can be purchased at Creative Market
Fabric available from my Spoonflower shop. Did you know Spoonflower doesn’t just sell fabric? You can also purchase ready made home decor items with your choice of designs by TONS of talented designers.
I’m super excited this collection “Rain or Shine” is now available on Spoonflower for purchase! This is a collection that was created with my adventurous whippets in mind. I initially had created many of the motifs for other collections but decided to change them up a bit by using pop art and Memphis design as inspiration for color and also added a few other elements. I wanted to give up on it many times as I felt like it took a really weird turn, but decided to see it through while taking Immersion2023 with Bonnie Christine.
The patterns shown here were designed for anyone who enjoys making fun and unique items for their pets be it beds, martingale collars, or cute totes to hold all the dog supplies and treats on those weekend outings. And of course the ever-stylish bandana. What hip pup wouldn’t love a fun bandana?
If you’re in the market for one-of-a-kind prints for your stylish and unique pup visit my Spoonflower shop. Most importantly, don’t forget to SHARE your fabulous creations with me! You can tag or message me on Instagram @twistnpout13, with your photos or a link to where they can be seen.
I applied my design to this mock-up created by Creatsy and purchased from Creative Market. And should add this was my first time ever doing anything like this in Photoshop. While the mockup templates are easy to follow once you know how to use them, I could have never figured it out on my own, even with the handy instructions that are included in the design file. Thank goodness for the fantastic mini-course that was offered as a bonus session in the Immersion course by Sarah Watts. Her walk through on how to apply your patterns to smart objects in Photoshop was so easy to follow. And she is super fun to listen to. Check out her website wattsalot (is that witty or what?) to learn more about her work and classes.

All the snow and rain we had over the winter has had a wonderful impact here in the high desert. Our usual palette of browns and tans are now bursting with so many shades of GREEN!
It is usually greener at the river’s edge, but the green has blanketed much more of the landscape than I typically see out here. I am really loving it. We’ll see if this will carry over into the late summer.
So, continuing from where I left off last week; We have motifs, we have texture and color. Possibly a title. I’ve made quite a lot of progress, though it may not look like it here. Thought I’d show you seven of the colors and a few of the Illustrator doodles I’ve done.
If it looks a little like a first grader put this together, that’s because I was going for that aesthetic.
I wanted to capture the silliness of my youngest dog. He’s such a funny boy. I mean those ears – he just can’t get them under control. I was also inspired by Memphis design and pop art colors. (Then there is the older dog, who always looks as though he’s secretly judging me. But I couldn’t leave him out!)
I sketched a whole lot of elements for use in the soon-to-be-released collection and then redrew them in Illustrator. Though I veered off a bit from true Memphis design, I tried to retain some of the style. Just working on some final touches before the collection goes live.
Trying to expand my color palette a bit. I was inspired by the vibrant yellow of this Rabbit Brush. As well as this little Columbine. And I just adore how these look a little like bats when in their bud stage.
So, this is a little different. I created a mini collection last year based on the many hikes I take with my dogs. I’m reimagining that collection with different colors and a few other new details.
